Pre-show / Part One, Scene One

Part One, Scene One will likely not have any background music. There will be the sound of rain in the background, which will get louder for a moment when Jean walks outside, and there will be a siren and church bell cue which leads into the second scene. The first music that will be part of the play environment will be the funeral mass.

For the preshow, I plan to pull a selection of music that mixes electronic sound with analog instruments. This song, aptly named “Intro” could potentially be the final track of the preshow music – fading out at the end into the sound of rain and a door’s bell (as opposed to a doorbell) signaling our entrance into the cafe as the lights come up.

    I really dig this track. It reminds me a bit of music by Steve Reich. He uses normal instruments, but composes music that sounds like electronica or trance. His most famous work is Music for 18 Musicians. Pretty cool sound.

    I used to have a CD called Reich Remixed which took this analog music up a notch by remixing it. Here’s a link to a track called Eight Lines on YouTube that makes me think of the Cell Phone Ballet:
